Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, disconnect battery if working near electrical components, and ensure the area around the header/body joint is cool.
- Remove any trim, fasteners, or components obstructing access to the header joint to expose the old seal.
- Carefully remove the old seal and any adhesive residue using a plastic scraper and solvent or degreaser; avoid gouging the mating surfaces.
- Clean and dry both mating surfaces thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion and seating of the new seal.
- Dry-fit the new seal along the header lip to confirm alignment; trim excess material if necessary for a precise fit.
- Apply a thin bead of gasket adhesive or weatherstrip glue (optional) to the seal or mating surface, then press the seal firmly into place, working around the perimeter to ensure full contact.
- Reinstall any removed components and fasteners, torqueing to manufacturer specs where applicable; inspect the seal for any gaps and adjust as needed.
- After installation, test for leaks and road noise reduction. Recheck fasteners and seal seating after a short test drive and retighten if necessary.
