Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pull out the old seal and use a trim tool to release any clips or adhesive. Cut away deteriorated material with a razor blade as needed.
- Clean the mounting surface: remove all old adhesive, dirt, and grease. Wipe the channel and flange with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal: align the new weatherstrip along the door frame to confirm fit and orientation (right-hand). Trim any excess length if necessary, following the seal profile.
- Apply adhesive if required: for adhesive-mounted seals, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or to the seal per adhesive manufacturer instructions. For clip-in seals, ensure clips align with mounting holes.
- Install the seal: press the weatherstrip into the channel starting at one end and working along the length. For adhesive installations, hold or tape sections in place until initial tack is achieved.
- Secure and trim: use masking tape to hold the seal while adhesive cures (if used). Trim any remaining excess with a razor for a neat finish.
- Check operation: close the door and inspect for uniform contact, leaks, or interference. Adjust or re-seat the seal as needed for an even, continuous seal. Allow full adhesive cure time before exposing to moisture.
