Direct-fit OE-style right-hand rocker panel with integrated step plate for 1955-1959 2nd Series Chevy trucks. This reproduction panel restores the rocker area, provides a safe, sturdy stepping surface, and protects the lower body from road debris and corrosion. Built from heavy-gauge steel with factory contours and a corrosion-resistant primer finish, the panel offers durable, reliable performance and an authentic appearance for restorations and rust-repair projects. Designed for accurate alignment and straightforward installation or welding, it returns structural support and restores original fit and function.
Features:
- Fits 1955-1959 2nd Series Chevy Truck — Right hand (passenger side) rocker with step plate.
- Stamped heavy-gauge steel construction with factory-style contours for authentic fit.
- Integrated step plate provides convenient, reinforced stepping surface.
- Corrosion-resistant primer finish ready for final paint and rust protection.
- Pre-drilled/formed mounting areas for easier alignment and attachment.
- Ideal replacement for rusted or damaged OEM rocker panels during restorations.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 4/5
- Estimated time: 3-6 hours (varies by experience and extent of rust repair)
Instructions:
- Inspect the existing rocker and surrounding structure to assess rust, damage, and any inner rocker or pinch-weld issues that need attention.
- Remove door sill trim, kick panels, and any components obstructing access to the rocker. Support the door if necessary to prevent alignment shifts.
- Cut or grind away the old rocker panel and remove spot welds using a spot weld cutter or drill; retain any inner structure that is sound and remove only damaged metal.
- Clean and prepare the mating surfaces: remove rust, scale, and paint back to solid metal. Treat with rust inhibitor where needed.
- Trial-fit the new rocker panel and step plate, test alignment with door gaps and pinch seams, and mark any areas that need trimming or adjustment.
- Clamp the panel in place and perform plug/spot welds or continuous welds per your preferred method. Maintain proper heat control to avoid warping.
- Grind welds smooth, apply seam sealer to all joined seams, and repair any imperfections with body filler as required.
- Prime all bare metal and welded areas, then paint to match the vehicle. Reinstall trim, door sill components, and hardware.
- Double-check door operation and panel alignment; make final adjustments and touch up paint/sealer as needed.
