Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and disconnect the battery if required for trim removal; wear safety gear.
- Remove interior trim, molding, and headliner components as needed to access the rear glass perimeter.
- Carefully remove old molding and cut or pry away the existing urethane sealant; lift out the old glass using suction cups.
- Clean the pinchweld/flange thoroughly—remove old adhesive, rust, and debris; vacuum the cavity to clear glass fragments.
- Apply primer to the clean flange and to the glass edge where recommended by adhesive manufacturer; allow primer to flash per instructions.
- Load urethane into the caulking gun and apply a continuous, even bead to the flange following vehicle-specific bead profile.
- Using suction cups, align the new tempered glass with the flange and lower it into the urethane bead, pressing evenly to ensure full contact.
- Temporarily secure the glass with masking tape or original moldings as required; reinstall exterior and interior trim pieces.
- Allow adhesive to cure per urethane manufacturer recommendations (many require several hours to reach handling strength and up to 24 hours for full cure).
- After curing, check for proper sealing and any leaks with a water test; reassemble remaining interior components and clean the glass.
