Precision Rear Window Glass DB00409 GTN is a tempered green rear windshield designed for Second Series GM vehicles. It restores the original appearance, weather sealing and occupant protection of the rear opening while matching factory contours and tint. Made from safety-grade tempered glass, this direct-fit replacement helps prevent wind and water intrusion, reduces glare and UV transmission, and provides a durable solution for restorations or collision repairs.
Features:
- Fits Second Series GM vehicles — direct-fit rear window (DB00409 GTN); verify exact year/model application before purchase.
- Tempered green safety glass for factory-correct tint and appearance.
- Engineered to match OEM contour and dimensions for proper sealing and fit.
- Improves visibility while reducing glare and UV exposure.
- Durable, scratch-resistant surface suitable for restoration and collision replacement.
- Designed for use with standard automotive urethane or gasket installation methods.
- Professional installation recommended for best sealing and safety results.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours (plus adhesive cure time; full cure 24 hours)
Instructions:
- Prepare the vehicle: park on a level surface, disconnect the battery (if required for rear defroster), and protect interior trim with cloths or masking.
- Remove interior trim and any molding that covers the glass perimeter to access the adhesive bead.
- Carefully cut and remove the old glass using a cold knife or windshield cutting tool; remove old urethane from the pinch weld and surrounding flange.
- Clean the pinch weld thoroughly with solvent and allow to dry; apply primer to bare metal areas per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Apply a continuous bead of automotive urethane adhesive to the pinch weld using a caulking gun, following the adhesive maker's recommended bead profile.
- Using suction cups, lift and position the new rear window into the opening, aligning contours and flange. Press the glass evenly into the urethane to seat it fully.
- Secure the glass with gentle tape or supports as needed to maintain position during initial cure.
- Allow adhesive to set according to the urethane manufacturer's handling and full-cure times (typically handle in 1–2 hours; full cure ~24 hours).
- Reinstall trim, molding and any electrical connections (rear defroster). Verify proper sealing and inspect for leaks after cure.
- Dispose of broken glass and old adhesive per local regulations. Test drive only after adhesive has reached safe handling strength.
