Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a flat surface, disconnect battery if required, and protect interior upholstery with drop cloths.
- Remove interior trim, molding, and any clips around the rear window to expose the glass perimeter.
- If replacing existing bonded glass, carefully cut or pry away the old urethane using a utility knife, wire, or appropriate cutting tool; use a heat gun to soften adhesive if necessary. Use caution to avoid damaging surrounding sheetmetal.
- Clean the pinch weld and mounting flange thoroughly of old adhesive, rust, and contaminants. Wipe with an appropriate solvent and allow to dry.
- Prime the vehicle pinch weld and the glass edge per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions (apply primer only where specified).
- Load a continuous bead of automotive urethane adhesive into a caulking gun and apply a uniform, continuous bead to the pinch weld, following the vehicle's original adhesive profile.
- With at least one assistant, lift the new rear glass using suction cups, align it carefully, and set it into the adhesive bead. Press evenly around the perimeter to fully seat the glass into the urethane.
- Install exterior and interior moldings/trim back into place and secure any clips or fasteners. Use masking tape to hold the glass in position while urethane skins over.
- Allow the adhesive to cure per manufacturer recommendations (typically minimum 24 hours before driving).
- Inspect the seal for gaps, reinstall interior trim, and perform a water leak check once cure is complete.
