Hood brace kit for 1973-80 C/K Chevrolet and GMC truck and SUV models. These braces add structural support to the hood to prevent the common buckling, bowing, and cracking that can occur over time due to stiff hood hinges. These braces can also be used to repair or reinforce a hood that has already been buckled.
It is a well-known and common problem with the design of the square body hoods. People have a tendency to pull straight down on a stiff hood while closing instead of using care to push down and backward on the hood. When too much force is used to close a stiff hood, the hood can buckle in the middle and eventually crack over time. These braces can be used to prevent such damage or to reinforce a hood that has been damaged in the past and repaired. Some drilling is required for installation. Attach to the forward hood hinge bolt in between the hinge and the hood, then drill and screw into place using sheet metal screws. Sold as a pair.
