The Precision Cowl Fastener Clip 5404 004 is an OE-style replacement clip engineered to secure the cowl panel and lower windshield trim. It prevents panel movement, reduces wind noise and vibration, and helps block water intrusion into the engine bay and HVAC intake. Constructed from durable, corrosion-resistant composite material, this clip delivers long-lasting retention for restoration, repair, or routine maintenance applications. Verify vehicle-specific fitment before installation to ensure proper compatibility.
Features:
- OE-style clip serves as a direct replacement for worn or missing cowl fasteners.
- Durable, corrosion-resistant composite material resists weathering and long-term wear.
- Keeps cowl panel and windshield trim secure to reduce vibration and wind noise.
- Helps prevent water intrusion around the windshield base and HVAC intake.
- Push-fit design for quick, tool-assisted installation and reliable retention.
- Ideal for restoration and maintenance projects to restore factory fit and finish.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15–30 minutes (per vehicle, depending on number of clips and access)
Instructions:
- Open the hood and, if applicable, remove or lift any trim or weatherstrip that blocks the cowl access. If vehicle requires, remove windshield wiper arms following vehicle-specific procedures.
- Use a trim removal tool or flat screwdriver to carefully pry and remove the old or damaged clip. Use pliers if the clip is seized, taking care not to damage the surrounding panel.
- Clean the mounting hole and surrounding area with a rag to remove debris, old adhesive, and corrosion so the new clip seats fully.
- Align the cowl panel or trim piece so the mounting holes line up with the vehicle's push-pin locations.
- Press the new 5404 004 clip into the mounting hole until fully seated. You should feel or hear it snap into place. For tight fits, use pliers to finish seating without over-compressing the clip.
- Reinstall any removed trim, weatherstrip, or wiper arms and test for secure fitment and absence of rattles or movement.
