A direct-fit tailgate weatherstrip designed to restore the seal and function of 1967 GM full-size pickup tailgates. This precision-molded seal prevents water, dust, and road noise from entering the bed area while cushioning the tailgate to reduce vibration and protect painted surfaces. Built for durability and ease of installation, it’s an ideal replacement for restorations or routine maintenance that returns original fit and performance.
Features:
- Fits 1967 GM full-size pickup tailgates (verify fitment for specific models).
- Precision-molded rubber profile replicates original tailgate seal geometry.
- Seals against water, dust, wind and road noise to protect the bed and tailgate.
- Cushions tailgate contact to reduce vibration and prevent paint chipping.
- Durable, UV- and ozone-resistant rubber for long service life.
- Straightforward press-fit installation; adhesive can be used for added security.
- Ideal for restorations, repairs, or replacing degraded OEM weatherstripping.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Lower the tailgate and remove the old weatherstrip by carefully prying clips or adhesive areas with a trim tool.
- Thoroughly clean the mounting channel and mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol or a suitable solvent; remove all old adhesive and debris.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip along the tailgate channel to confirm orientation and length; trim excess if necessary using scissors or a utility knife.
- If using adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip cement into the channel per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Press the new seal into the channel starting at one end and working toward the other, ensuring the profile seats fully and evenly. Use masking tape temporarily to hold sections if needed while cement sets.
- Trim any final excess and clean off any adhesive squeeze-out. Allow adhesive to cure if used (refer to adhesive cure time).
- Raise and lower the tailgate several times to verify proper fit and seal; adjust as needed.
