The Precision Rear Window Weatherstrip Seal, Without Trim Groove WBL 1158, is a direct-replacement rear window seal engineered to stop water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim. Molded from durable EPDM rubber with ozone and UV resistance, this seal is designed for vehicles that use a groove-less, flush-fit rear glass installation. Ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance, it provides long-lasting compression and a snug fit—verify part number WBL 1158 against your vehicle's specifications for exact fitment.
Features:
- Designed to replace factory rear window seals on many cars, trucks, and SUVs—verify WBL 1158 for exact fitment.
- Made from high-grade EPDM rubber for resistance to UV, ozone, and weathering.
- No trim groove design for applications with flush or bonded rear glass installations.
- Helps prevent leaks, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim from water damage.
- OEM-style profile for reliable sealing and long-term compression set resistance.
- Suitable for restoration, collision repair, or preventative maintenance applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: pry out retaining trim (if present) and pull the old seal away from the glass channel. Use a razor blade or scraper to remove any stuck pieces.
- Clean the mounting channel and glass flange thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or an appropriate cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and sealant. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new WBL 1158 seal around the rear window to confirm orientation and fit. Trim excess length only if necessary, following the original seal as a template.
- If the application requires adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Many applications allow a push-in installation without adhesive—check fitment notes.
- Starting at one corner, press the seal into the channel, working around the perimeter. Use a plastic trim tool or your fingers to seat the seal fully; avoid sharp tools that can nick the rubber.
- Use masking tape to hold the seal in position if adhesive was used. Reinstall any trim pieces removed earlier.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product instructions before subjecting the seal to water exposure or closing the trunk/hatch repeatedly. Inspect for gaps and reseat as needed.
