This 1949–1954 Chevy upper door hinge pillar rubber bumper cushions the door at the upper hinge mounting point to prevent metal-to-metal contact, reduce vibration and eliminate annoying rattles. Molded from durable, weather- and ozone-resistant rubber, it restores factory fit and protects hinge pillars and paint from wear. An easy, direct replacement for worn or missing bumpers, it helps maintain proper door alignment and improves long-term reliability on classic Chevrolet restorations.
Features:
  • Fits 1949–1954 Chevrolet vehicles (passenger cars) for upper door hinge pillar mounting.
  • Molded, resilient rubber resists weathering, ozone and repeated compression.
  • Cushions hinge contact to prevent metal-on-metal wear and reduce door rattle and vibration.
  • Direct-fit replacement restores factory spacing and helps maintain proper door alignment.
  • Quick, tool-light installation ideal for restoration and maintenance projects.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 10-20 minutes per door
Suggested Tools:
  • Flat-head screwdriver or trim removal tool
  • Pick or small utility knife
  • Clean rag
  • Silicone spray or rubber-safe lubricant
  • Rubber mallet (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Open the door and locate the upper hinge pillar bumper on the hinge pillar.
  2. Carefully pry out the old or damaged bumper using a flat-head screwdriver or trim tool; cut away any stubborn rubber with a utility knife if necessary.
  3. Clean the cavity and surrounding area with a rag to remove dirt, rust flakes and old adhesive.
  4. Apply a light coat of silicone spray or rubber-safe lubricant to the new bumper and the pillar cavity to ease installation.
  5. Align the bumper with the cavity and press it firmly into place until fully seated. Tap gently with a rubber mallet if required — avoid metal-on-metal impacts.
  6. Close the door and check for proper contact, alignment and rattle-free operation. Trim or reposition if minor adjustment is needed.
  7. Repeat the process for the opposite door if replacing both bumpers.
