Front lower ball joint designed for 1983–2017 Ford, Mazda, and Mercury vehicles. This direct-fit replacement secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing smooth pivoting while maintaining proper suspension geometry. Engineered to restore front-end alignment and handling, it reduces play and uneven tire wear caused by worn joints. Constructed for long-term durability, this non-greaseable, pinchbolt-style ball joint installs without a retaining ring for a streamlined replacement that helps return steering response and ride quality to factory standards.

  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack, and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the pinchbolt, ball joint stud, and associated fasteners to ease removal.
  4. Locate the front lower ball joint on the control arm and remove the pinchbolt nut/bolt securing the ball joint to the control arm.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork. Carefully tap the knuckle if needed to free the stud.
  6. If the ball joint is pressed into the control arm, remove it using the appropriate ball joint press or follow vehicle-specific removal steps. For bolt-in styles, remove mounting bolts.
  7. Prepare the mating surfaces and position the new ball joint into the control arm. Install fasteners finger-tight to align components.
  8. Torque the pinchbolt and any mounting bolts to the vehicle manufacturer's specified values using a torque wrench.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to spec.
  10. Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
