Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, lift vehicle with floor jack and secure on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the suspension.
- Apply penetrating oil to the ball joint nut and let soak if corroded.
- Support the lower control arm with a jack or stand to prevent sudden movement.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen/remove the castle nut or ball joint nut.
- Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork to separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle; tap with a hammer if needed.
- Unbolt any retaining brackets or rivets securing the ball joint to the control arm (drill out rivets if applicable) and remove the old ball joint.
- Compare the new ball joint to the old unit for correct orientation (right/left) and fitment.
- Install the new ball joint into the control arm and secure with supplied hardware or appropriate fasteners; torque to manufacturer specification.
- Reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, install nut and torque to spec; insert new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall any removed components, wheel, and lower the vehicle. Torque wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a final torque check on all fasteners and have wheel alignment checked and adjusted by a professional after installation.
