Inner tie rod end for 1988-2002 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs engineered to restore precise steering feel and reliable linkage performance. This right/left hand inner tie rod secures the steering rack to the outer tie rod, maintaining proper toe alignment, reducing play and vibration, and preventing premature tire wear. Constructed for long-lasting durability and easy fitment, it’s an ideal replacement for restoration, maintenance, or performance reuse to bring back factory steering control.
Features:
  • Fits 1988-2002 Chevrolet & GMC trucks and SUVs (right or left hand inner tie rod end).
  • High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for extended service life.
  • Restores steering precision by securing the steering rack to the outer tie rod and reducing play.
  • Helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves vehicle handling and steering response.
  • Designed for straightforward replacement with common hand tools — suitable for DIY mechanics and professional technicians.
  • Direct-replacement part for restoration, maintenance, and performance-driven steering repairs.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench or impact gun
  • Wrench and socket set
  • Tie rod puller or pickle fork
  • Adjustable wrench or inner tie rod tool
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Penetrating oil
  • Measuring tape or marker
  • Shop rags
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake and loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the steering components.
  3. Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the steering knuckle or measure the exposed threads to preserve toe alignment before removal.
  4. Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork; remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod if required.
  5. Apply penetrating oil to the inner tie rod connection. Use the appropriate inner tie rod tool or wrench to loosen and remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack.
  6. Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the steering rack to the same depth as the removed unit (use marks/measurements made earlier). Tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
  7. Reattach the outer tie rod and tighten the jam nut to secure the adjustment. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  8. With the vehicle on the ground, verify toe measurements and perform a professional wheel alignment to factory specifications.
  9. Test drive at low speed to confirm steering feel and proper operation; re-torque fasteners if required after initial use.
