This replacement left-hand tie rod end connects the pitman arm to the right-hand steering arm on 1989–1997 Ford and Mazda trucks and SUVs, restoring precise steering linkage and safe vehicle control. Designed to secure the steering linkage, it prevents excessive play, reduces vibration, and restores proper toe alignment after wear or damage. Built for durability and reliable steering response, this part is ideal for restoration, suspension repair, or routine maintenance on older Ford/Mazda steering systems.
Features:
  • Fitment: Direct replacement for 1989–1997 Ford and Mazda models that use a left-hand tie rod end from pitman arm to right-hand steering arm.
  • Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant finish for long life under road and weather exposure.
  • Designed to eliminate steering play, improve handling, and maintain accurate toe alignment.
  • Pre-greased or serviceable ball joint design (as specified by OE type) for smooth articulation and extended life.
  • Easy to install as a direct-fit OE-style component — ideal for restoration and routine steering repairs.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45 minutes - 2 hours
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket and ratchet set
  • Combination wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Pitman arm puller (if removing pitman arm)
  • Pliers (for cotter pin)
  • Hammer
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Grease gun (if part is serviceable)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, set parking brake, and chock rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and securely support it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel for access.
  3. Locate the tie rod end connecting the pitman arm to the right-hand steering arm. Clean the area to expose fasteners.
  4. Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded stud or measure the exposed threads to preserve alignment during reassembly.
  5. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut securing the tie rod end stud to the steering arm. Do not fully remove the nut until the joint is separated to avoid damage.
  6. Use a tie rod end puller or a hammer (with caution) to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering arm. If necessary, remove the pitman arm with a puller to gain access per vehicle service manual.
  7. Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod to remove it. Count the turns required to aid reassembly to near-original alignment.
  8. Install the new tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the same approximate position or until the marks align. Insert the stud into the steering arm and hand-tighten the castle nut.
  9. Torque the castle nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and install a new cotter pin. If the part is serviceable, apply grease per instructions.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec. Perform a professional wheel alignment as soon as possible to ensure correct toe and prevent uneven tire wear.
