Outer left-hand tie rod end for 1994–1997 Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 and compatible steering applications. This replacement tie rod end secures the steering linkage to the steering knuckle, restoring precise steering response, reducing play, and improving vehicle safety. Constructed from heat-treated steel with a corrosion-resistant finish and a durable rubber dust boot, the part delivers long-lasting reliability under road and load conditions. Designed as a direct-fit replacement for worn or damaged outer tie rod ends, it helps return proper alignment geometry and reduces uneven tire wear with a straightforward installation.
Features:
- Fits: 1994–1997 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 (front outer left-hand tie rod end) — verify OEM part number for exact fit.
- Heat-treated steel construction for strength and long service life.
- Corrosion-resistant finish and rubber dust boot to protect the ball joint from dirt and moisture.
- Restores steering precision, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear.
- Direct-fit replacement for easy restoration of factory handling; compatible with restoration and maintenance projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the affected side.
- Locate the outer tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod and apply penetrating oil to fasteners. Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the tie rod with a marker to preserve approximate alignment.
- Remove the cotter pin (if fitted) and loosen the castle nut or tie rod nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod end puller or a pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. A few firm strikes with a hammer may be required to free the taper.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod, then unthread the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod using pliers or a wrench while counting turns or noting the marked position to maintain alignment length.
- Thread the new outer left-hand tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the same position/number of turns as the old unit. Tighten the jam nut against the new tie rod end to secure it.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer’s specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Because steering geometry can be altered even when using the same thread position, have a professional wheel alignment performed as soon as possible after installation.
