Premium inner tie rod end engineered as a direct-fit replacement for late-design offset tie rod assemblies on 1998–2005 Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu and Oldsmobile models. This inner tie rod secures the steering rack to the outer tie rod, restores proper steering geometry, and eliminates play that causes wandering, vibration, or uneven tire wear. Constructed from heat-treated steel with corrosion-resistant plating and a durable ball joint boot, it delivers long-lasting performance, dependable handling, and straightforward installation for restorations or routine suspension maintenance.
Features:
- Fits 1998–2005 Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu and Oldsmobile vehicles (late design with offset tie rod, inner, right/left hand).
- High-strength steel construction for improved durability and load resistance.
- Offset late-design shape matches OE geometry to restore proper alignment and steering feel.
- Sealed ball-joint with protective boot to resist contamination and extend service life.
- Direct replacement — no modification required for quick, reliable installation.
- Reduces steering play, vibration, and uneven tire wear for safer, smoother driving.
- Ideal for suspension restorations, routine maintenance, and replacing worn or damaged components.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–90 minutes (per side)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod on the steering rack and spray penetrating oil on fasteners if needed.
- Loosen and remove the outer tie rod jam nut where it locks to the inner tie rod; mark or measure the distance from the end of the tie rod to the edge of the outer tie rod for reassembly (count turns or measure to preserve alignment).
- Separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
- Remove any retaining hardware securing the inner tie rod to the steering rack (lock nut or clamp) and unscrew the inner tie rod from the rack (use appropriate tools to avoid damaging the rack).
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the steering rack to the specified engagement depth or to match the original measurement. Tighten any retaining nut/clamp to the manufacturer’s torque spec.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod using the previously noted measurement or turn count to approximate alignment. Tighten the outer tie rod jam nut to secure.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut to the specified torque. Install cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Because small differences can affect vehicle alignment, have a professional front-end alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
