Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) for 1999-2007 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles with rack-and-pinion steering. This precision-engineered steering component connects the inner tie rod to the steering rack, transmitting steering input to the outer tie rod and front wheels. Designed to restore proper steering feel, alignment geometry, and vehicle tracking, it reduces play and improves safety. Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant plating and high-quality ball studs and seals, it offers long-lasting durability and reliable performance under road stress. Direct-replacement fit helps speed installation and supports restoration and maintenance of steering systems.
Features:
  • Fits 1999-2007 Chevrolet and GMC models with rack-and-pinion steering (inner tie rod end, right or left hand)
  • Precision-machined ball stud and threaded shaft for accurate steering response and minimal play
  • Hardened steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life
  • Sealed ball joint design to retain lubrication and resist contaminants
  • Direct-replacement design for OEM-style fitment—ideal for restoration or routine steering system repair
  • Helps restore alignment, reduce vibration, and improve vehicle handling and safety
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • jack and jack stands or vehicle lift
  • wheel chocks
  • socket set and ratchet
  • adjustable wrench or tie rod end wrench
  • torque wrench
  • inner tie rod removal tool or large adjustable pliers
  • screwdriver or pry bar
  • cotter pin pliers (if applicable)
  • marker or paint pen
  • grease (if applicable)
  • service manual or alignment spec sheet
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle and support securely on jack stands; remove the front wheel on the side being serviced.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod at the steering rack and mark the position of the outer tie rod on the threaded shaft to preserve alignment reference.
  4. Remove any steering boot or clamp covering the inner tie rod; slide the boot back to expose the joint.
  5. Loosen and remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle (if removal of the entire assembly is needed) and unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod to separate components.
  6. Use an inner tie rod removal tool on the inner tie rod end at the rack; unthread and remove the old inner tie rod.
  7. Compare new part to the old unit for correct orientation and hand-thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack to the marked reference or to factory specification.
  8. Tighten the inner tie rod to the specified torque using a torque wrench and the appropriate tool; reinstall or reposition the steering boot and secure clamps.
  9. Reattach the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod, restoring the previously marked position as a starting point for alignment; torque fasteners to specification and install cotter pins if required.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
  11. Because final steering alignment is critical, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe and handling.
