This idler arm bracket assembly with grease hose kit replaces worn or damaged steering idler components on 1999–2017 Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer trucks and SUVs. The bracket secures the idler arm to the vehicle frame, restoring proper steering geometry and reducing play in the steering linkage. The included grease hose and fittings allow convenient lubrication access to the idler arm without disassembling the steering linkage, helping extend component life and maintain smooth, reliable steering. Built from corrosion-resistant steel and finished for durability, this assembly is a direct-fit replacement designed for easy installation during steering system repairs or restorations.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct-fit idler arm bracket assembly for 1999–2017 Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer trucks/SUVs.
- Material: Heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant steel construction for strength and long service life.
- Function: Secures the idler arm to the frame to restore steering geometry and reduce play.
- Grease kit: Includes flexible grease hose and fittings for easy, on-vehicle lubrication access.
- Ease of use: Designed as a bolt-on replacement using OE mounting points—no frame modifications required.
- Durability: Finished to resist rust and road corrosion for reliable performance in varied conditions.
- Application: Ideal for steering system repairs, restorations, or preventive maintenance to improve steering feel.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, set the parking brake, and block the rear wheels.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel on the side you are working if necessary for access.
- Locate the idler arm bracket and inspect surrounding linkage. Apply penetrating oil to old fasteners if needed and allow time to soak.
- Support the idler arm/steering linkage with a jack or support to prevent drop when bracket is removed.
- Remove the nuts and bolts securing the existing idler arm bracket to the frame and detach the idler arm from the bracket. Retain any reusable hardware for reference.
- Clean mounting surfaces on the frame and idler arm. Compare the new bracket and grease hose fittings to the old parts to confirm correct orientation.
- Install the new bracket using the OE-style mounting holes and supplied or original fasteners. Hand-start all bolts, then torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
- Attach the idler arm to the new bracket and torque the mounting hardware to spec. Ensure the steering linkage geometry and alignment are preserved.
- Route and secure the supplied grease hose to provide convenient access to the idler arm zerk fitting. Connect fittings and secure hose away from moving or hot components using clamps or zip ties as needed.
- Use a grease gun to prime the hose and apply lubricant to the idler arm fitting. Check for proper grease flow and any leaks at connections.
- Lower the vehicle, remove jack stands, and test-drive at low speed to verify steering feel and that all hardware remains tight. Re-check torque after a short test drive.
