Front upper ball joint designed for 1999-2019 Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer trucks and SUVs. This direct-fit replacement secures the upper control arm to the spindle, maintaining proper steering geometry and suspension articulation. Built to restore factory handling, reduce play and prevent premature tire wear, this ball joint provides reliable performance and long-term durability. Ideal for maintenance, suspension rebuilds, and restoration projects where precise fit and dependable operation are required.

  • Ball joint press or C-clamp with adapters
  • Pry bar
  • Torque wrench
  • Hammer
  • Needle-nose pliers
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level surface, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with floor jack and support on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from the upper ball joint stud, then separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork.
  4. Support the upper control arm and remove any retaining bolts or rivets securing the ball joint to the control arm. If rivets are used, drill them out or replace with supplied hardware as needed.
  5. Use a ball joint press or appropriate C-clamp adapter to press the old ball joint out of the control arm.
  6. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated. Ensure orientation is correct for right or left side.
  7. Reinstall the control arm and reconnect the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle. Tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer torque specification and insert a new cotter pin.
  8. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
  9. Perform a steering and suspension check; have a professional alignment performed after replacement to ensure proper toe and camber settings.
