Outer tie rod end for 2004–2008 Ford and Lincoln models, designed to replace worn steering outer tie rods and restore safe, precise steering alignment. This heavy-duty replacement component secures the steering linkage to the steering knuckle, helping maintain correct toe settings, reduce play, and prevent uneven tire wear. Constructed with corrosion-resistant materials and a sealed ball joint, it delivers reliable performance and long service life while being simple to install during routine suspension or steering repairs.
Features:
- Fits 2004-2008 Ford and Lincoln models (outer tie rod end, right or left hand)
- Durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant coating
- Sealed ball joint prevents contaminants and retains lubrication
- Restores steering precision, reduces play and uneven tire wear
- Direct-fit replacement for OE mounting and alignment specs
- Easy installation for routine suspension/steering maintenance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the connection between the steering knuckle and the inner tie rod; mark the threads of the old tie rod end to preserve toe alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod, then remove the cotter pin and castellated nut (if equipped) securing the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork; avoid damaging the knuckle.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns noted from the mark to preserve alignment; install the new outer tie rod end and tighten the jam nut against it.
- Attach the new tie rod end to the steering knuckle, install the nut and torque to the vehicle manufacturer's specification, then install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the lug nuts to spec, and have a professional wheel alignment performed to finalise toe settings.
