Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly with lug wrench.
  3. Raise front of vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  4. Locate the inner tie rod and identify the correct side (right or left).
  5. Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and mark or count turns to preserve alignment, or measure toe settings.
  6. Separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod separator or pickle fork; remove outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
  7. Loosen and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod by unscrewing; set aside if reusing.
  8. Remove any retaining hardware or clamps securing the inner tie rod to the steering rack and unscrew the inner tie rod from the rack.

  10. Screw the new inner tie rod into the steering rack to the factory or measured position and tighten the retaining nut/clip per vehicle specs.
  11. Reinstall the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod using the previously counted turns or alignment measurement, then reconnect to the steering knuckle and secure with the appropriate nut. Torque all fasteners to manufacturer specifications.
  12. Tighten the jam nut against the inner tie rod and ensure no binding in the steering assembly. Apply grease if required.
  13. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  14. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper toe settings and tire wear prevention.
