Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 2008–2012 Ford, Mazda and Mercury applications. This direct-replacement steering component features a 14mm thread at the outer end and matches factory geometry for consistent steering feel and alignment retention. Manufactured to withstand road loads and corrosive environments, it secures the inner end of the tie rod assembly, helps maintain proper toe settings, and reduces play that causes wandering or uneven tire wear. Supplied ready for installation (production date from 6/5/09), it’s ideal for repair, restoration, or preventative maintenance to restore steering precision and vehicle safety.
Features:
- Fitment: 2008–2012 Ford, Mazda and Mercury vehicles (inner tie rod end, right/left hand).
- 14mm thread at outer end to match OEM steering linkage specifications.
- Replaces worn or damaged inner tie rod ends to restore steering accuracy.
- Durable construction and corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Designed for straightforward installation and correct alignment retention.
- Suitable for routine maintenance, collision repair, or full steering system restoration.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45 minutes – 2 hours (per side, depending on experience and whether an alignment is required)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod at the steering rack and apply penetrating oil to fasteners and the jam nut if present.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the jam nut or measure the distance from a fixed point to preserve toe alignment during reassembly.
- Use an adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the jam nut and an appropriate tool (inner tie rod tool or socket) to unthread the inner tie rod from the steering rack.
- Separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork, taking care not to damage the boot or surrounding components.
- Remove the old inner tie rod. Compare the new part to the removed unit to confirm correct thread size and length.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the steering rack to the factory depth or the marked position. Torque to manufacturer specification if available.
- Reattach the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to specified torque. Reinstall and tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Because tie rod replacement can alter toe settings, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
