Front outer left-hand tie rod end for 2011–2018 Ford vehicles. This replacement steering component secures the steering linkage to the wheel hub assembly and transfers driver input from the steering rack to the front wheel for precise alignment and predictable handling. Built for durability and reliable operation, the part resists wear from road contaminants and provides smooth steering response, helping eliminate play, reduce tire wear, and restore steering feel after the original component has worn out. Ideal for maintenance, repair, or restoration of steering systems on compatible Ford trucks and SUVs (confirm exact model fitment before purchase).
Features:
  • Vehicle fitment: Compatible with 2011–2018 Ford models (see vehicle-specific fitment guide; verify year, model, and trim for exact fit).
  • Function: Front outer left-hand tie rod end — connects steering rack/center link to the steering knuckle.
  • Material: High-strength forged stud and housing with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Benefits: Restores steering precision, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear.
  • Design: Pre-greased ball joint with durable dust boot to help resist contamination and extend service intervals.
  • Ease of use: Direct replacement with OE-style dimensions for straightforward installation and alignment.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Lug wrench or impact gun
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Open-end or box wrenches
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Tape measure or caliper
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Grease (if required)
  • Shop rags
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and chock the rear wheels.
  2. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support it securely on jack stands.
  3. Remove the front wheel to gain access to the tie rod end.
  4. Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Use a marker or paint pen to mark the position of the tie rod end relative to the inner tie rod or adjuster sleeve to preserve alignment as closely as possible.
  5. Loosen the jam nut on the tie rod sleeve and back it off several turns.
  6. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut on the tie rod end stud.
  7. Use a tie rod end puller, pickle fork, or carefully strike the steering knuckle with a hammer to separate the tie rod end stud from the knuckle. Take care not to damage the knuckle seal or surrounding components.
  8. Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod or adjuster sleeve, counting turns or measuring the exposed threads to match the new part to the original position as closely as possible.
  9. Install the new outer left-hand tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod or adjuster sleeve to the same approximate position as the old unit. Tighten the jam nut to secure the assembly.
  10. Insert the tie rod stud into the steering knuckle and torque the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specification. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  12. Because exact toe alignment is critical after replacing a tie rod end, have a professional wheel alignment performed as soon as possible to ensure proper tire wear and steering geometry.
