Front lower ball joint (right or left) designed as a durable, direct-replacement suspension component that secures the steering knuckle to the control arm. This part restores proper alignment and steering response, reduces vibration, and prevents uneven tire wear. Constructed for longevity and reliable performance, it’s an essential maintenance item when replacing worn suspension parts or completing a restoration. Verify vehicle-specific fitment before purchase to ensure correct application for your year, make and model.
Features:
  • Fits a wide range of vehicles — verify exact year, make and model fitment before ordering.
  • Durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle to restore proper steering and suspension geometry.
  • Precision-machined ball and housing for smooth articulation and reduced play.
  • Easy to install as a direct replacement where suspension design is compatible; ideal for repairs and restorations.
  • Helps prevent uneven tire wear and reduces vibration for improved ride quality.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 1–3 hours (per side) depending on vehicle and experience
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and wrench set
  • Breaker bar
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint press or ball joint removal tool (C-frame press)
  • Ball joint separator (pickle fork) or tie rod separator
  • Hammer and pry bar
  • Penetrating oil (e.g., PB Blaster)
  • Wire brush or sandpaper
  • Rubber mallet
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Safely lift and support the vehicle on jack stands and remove the wheel.
  2. Remove the brake caliper and rotor if needed to access the hub and steering knuckle; hang caliper with a zip tie to avoid stress on the brake hose.
  3. Disconnect any ABS sensor wires or sway bar end links that obstruct removal.
  4. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut (if equipped) from the ball joint stud.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork, or use a ball joint press to push the stud free.
  6. Detach the lower control arm from the subframe or remove retaining bolts to gain access to the ball joint (vehicle-specific).
  7. Use a ball joint press or appropriate tool to press out the old ball joint from the control arm. Apply penetrating oil to seized fasteners if necessary.
  8. Clean the control arm bore with a wire brush or sandpaper; inspect surrounding suspension components for wear or damage.
  9. Press the new ball joint into the control arm using the ball joint press following the manufacturer’s recommended orientation and seating depth.
  10. Reassemble the steering knuckle onto the new ball joint stud, install the castle nut and torque to the vehicle-specified value; insert a new cotter pin where required.
  11. Reattach any components removed earlier (sway bar link, ABS sensor, brake rotor/caliper). Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  12. Torque the wheel lug nuts to specification and perform a quick road test. Have a professional alignment performed after replacement to ensure proper tire wear and steering geometry.
