- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per door
Instructions:
- Lower the window to a position that allows access to the run channel; disconnect the battery if required for power windows.
- Remove the door panel and any vapor barriers or water shields to expose the interior of the door.
- Carefully support the glass (tape in place if needed) and remove any mounting clips or bolts that secure the window to the regulator.
- Gently lift out the glass from the old run channel and set it aside on a soft, protected surface.
- Remove the old glass run channel by prying or sliding it out of the door frame; use a scraper to clear residual adhesive or debris.
- Clean the channel seating area thoroughly with a rag and appropriate cleaner; allow to dry.
- Apply a light lubricant (silicone spray or soap solution) to the new run channel lips to ease installation and protect the glass.
- Insert the new run channel into the door frame, aligning it with the window path; use masking tape to hold it temporarily if needed.
- Carefully lower the glass into the new channel and reattach any mounting clips or bolts to the regulator.
- Operate the window slowly to verify smooth travel and correct seating; make any necessary adjustments for alignment.
- Reinstall the vapor barrier and door panel, ensuring all fasteners and trim pieces are secured.
- Test the window several times to confirm quiet operation and proper sealing against wind and water.
