Complete weatherstrip seal kit designed for vehicles equipped with a rear window weatherstrip that uses a trim groove (CWK 2111 87). This kit replaces worn or damaged rear window seals to stop water intrusion, reduce wind noise, protect interior trim, and restore factory alignment of the glass and molding. Made for long-term performance, the seal resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes while providing a tight, reliable fit. Ideal for restorations and routine replacement to return the vehicle to showroom fit and function with straightforward installation.
Features:
- Fits vehicles equipped with rear window weatherstrip that uses a trim groove (part CWK 2111 87).
- Premium EPDM rubber construction with integrated core for secure seating and long-term weather resistance.
- Seals rear window to prevent leaks, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim.
- Designed to align and secure trim molding for restored factory fit and appearance.
- Easy to install with common hand tools; ideal for restoration or replacement projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level surface and disconnect negative battery cable if working near electrical components.
- Carefully remove exterior trim and any retainers surrounding the rear window using a trim removal tool to avoid scratching paint.
- Remove the old weatherstrip by prying it out of the trim groove and cutting through any bonded sections with a razor knife.
- Thoroughly clean the trim groove and surrounding flange with rubbing alcohol or an approved solvent to remove adhesive residue, dirt, and old sealant. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip in place and orient it so the trim groove and sealing lip align correctly with the glass and molding.
- If the kit requires adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the groove or the sealing surface per adhesive manufacturer instructions. For press-fit designs, a silicone lubricant can aid installation.
- Starting at the top center of the window, press the new weatherstrip into the groove. Work outward and downward toward each corner, seating the seal fully without stretching. Use masking tape to hold sections in position if needed while adhesive sets.
- Trim any excess material at the overlap or corners with a razor knife for a clean finish. Reinstall trim pieces and retainers, making sure they engage the new seal properly.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer’s recommended time before exposing the seal to moisture. Inspect the seal for uniform contact and perform a water leak test once cured.
