Complete weatherstrip seal kit designed for 1971 models with a weatherstrip trim groove and black beltlines. This kit provides a precise, OEM-style seal to keep out water, dust and wind while restoring correct beltline alignment and exterior appearance. Constructed from a durable rubber compound with integrated trim-fit features, it offers long-lasting resistance to UV, ozone and temperature extremes. Ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance, the kit simplifies installation and improves cabin quietness and weather protection.
Features:
- Fits select 1971 models with a weatherstrip trim groove and black beltlines (verify fitment for your make/model).
- High-quality rubber compound resists UV, ozone and temperature aging.
- Designed to seat into existing trim groove and align with black beltlines for a factory look.
- Seals doors/windows to reduce wind noise, water leaks and dust intrusion.
- Durable replacement for worn or cracked original weatherstrips in restorations.
- Pre-shaped sections for straightforward fitment and reduced trimming.
- Improves long-term reliability and vehicle appearance with easy installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours (per side/vehicle depending on scope)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open the door/window area where the seal will be replaced.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: pry out trim and pull the old seal free. Use a trim tool to avoid damaging paint or metal.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt and grease. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip sections in the trim groove to confirm orientation and required trimming. Mark any cut lines with masking tape.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or to the seal per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Press the weatherstrip into the groove starting at one end and working along the length. Use a rubber mallet or firm hand pressure to seat the seal evenly into the trim groove.
- Trim any excess material with a utility knife or scissors, keeping cuts square and neat. Re-check alignment with black beltlines and adjust as needed.
- Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer directions before closing doors or exposing to heavy use. Clean any excess adhesive from surfaces.
- Inspect the installed weatherstrip for consistent compression and seal. Make minor adjustments if necessary for an even fit and finish.
