Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry away the existing seal and any remaining adhesive or fasteners.
- Clean the flange: wipe the door channel and mounting surface with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate cleaner to remove dirt, grease, and old adhesive.
- Test fit the new seals: position left and right pieces in place to confirm orientation and necessary trim length before applying adhesive.
- Trim to fit: if needed, carefully trim the ends of the weatherstrip for an exact fit using a utility knife or scissors.
- Apply adhesive: follow the weatherstrip adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a thin, even bead of adhesive to the mounting flange or to the weatherstrip as recommended.
- Set the seal: press the weatherstrip firmly into the channel, working along the length to ensure full contact. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if required.
- Allow adhesive to cure: let the adhesive set for the recommended curing time before closing the door or exposing to weather.
- Final check: inspect the seal for gaps, and make minor adjustments if needed. Clean any excess adhesive from surrounding surfaces.
