Instructions:
- Open the door and remove any interior trim or molding that blocks access to the old weatherstrip.
- Carefully pull out the old weatherstrip; use a trim tool or screwdriver to release clips if present.
- Remove old adhesive and residue from the channel using a scraper and cleaning solvent, then wipe clean with rubbing alcohol and a cloth. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new left and right pieces in the door channel to confirm orientation and fit before applying adhesive.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the door channel or to the seal backing where indicated by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Starting at one end (top corner recommended), press the new seal into the channel, working along the length and ensuring the seal seats fully and aligns with door edges. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed.
- Trim any excess material with a utility knife for a neat fit; use a heat gun on low if needed to ease bends at corners.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions (typically 30 minutes to several hours) before removing tape and closing the door.
- Check door operation and seal contact; make minor adjustments as needed to ensure even compression and proper closure.
