Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pry out the existing seal and any retaining clips or adhesive residue using a plastic trim tool.
- Clean the mounting channel: wipe the door jamb channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a degreaser and let dry to ensure good adhesion.
- Test-fit the new seal: align the new weatherstrip along the door frame to verify fit and identify the starting point (usually at the hinge area).
- Apply adhesive (if required): follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or back of the seal where indicated.
- Position the seal: starting at the hinge/top corner, press the seal into the channel, working around the door and compressing it firmly into place. Use masking tape to hold sections if needed while adhesive sets.
- Trim excess: trim any overhang with scissors or a utility knife for a neat finish, taking care not to cut into the mounting lip.
- Allow adhesive to cure: let the adhesive fully set per the product directions (typically 30 minutes to several hours) before closing the door repeatedly.
- Check operation: close the door slowly to confirm even contact, proper sealing, and that the door latches and aligns correctly. Make minor adjustments if necessary.
