Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: gently pry out the old seal using a trim tool or flat-blade screwdriver and discard.
- Clean the channel: wipe the door channel and mounting surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove adhesive residue, dirt and oils; allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal: align each seal piece to its respective door to confirm orientation and length before final installation.
- Lubricate the channel: apply a light coating of silicone spray or soapy water to the insertion channel to ease push-on installation; use weatherstrip adhesive only where extra retention is needed.
- Install the seal: starting at one end (usually the top hinge area), press the seal into the channel, working along the length and ensuring the bulb/profile seats fully into the channel. Use steady pressure and small overlapping pushes to avoid stretching.
- Trim excess: if the seal is longer than required, trim the end with scissors or tin snips for a neat fit; ensure ends meet or overlap per original configuration.
- Secure and set: if adhesive was used, allow recommended cure time. Close the door slowly to check for proper engagement and even compression; make minor adjustments as needed.
- Final check: inspect for gaps, ensure smooth door operation without binding, and verify water/noise sealing after a short test drive or water spray test.
