Precision 1969-1977 Ford Bronco Tailgate/Liftgate Body Weatherstrip Seal GWT 2131 69 is a direct-fit replacement seal designed to restore a factory-tight closure at the tailgate. It prevents water intrusion, dust, and wind noise while reducing vibration and rattles for a quieter, more secure tailgate operation. Constructed from long-lasting, weather-resistant rubber, this seal resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes to maintain flexibility and sealing performance over time. Ideal for restorations and maintenance, it installs with basic tools and brings back reliable, leak-free performance to classic Broncos.
Features:
- Fits 1969-1977 Ford Bronco tailgate / liftgate (direct replacement)
- Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber for long service life
- Seals out water, dust and wind to prevent interior damage and corrosion
- Reduces vibration and tailgate rattle for improved cabin quietness
- Direct replacement for part GWT 2131 69 — ideal for restorations and maintenance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes plus adhesive cure time if used
Instructions:
- Open the tailgate and remove the old weatherstrip by pulling it out of the channel; use a trim tool or flathead screwdriver to loosen any stubborn sections and remove leftover clips.
- Thoroughly clean the mating surface and channel with isopropyl alcohol or a degreaser to remove old adhesive, dirt, and rust. Allow the surface to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess material if necessary so the seal fits smoothly around corners and the full perimeter.
- If the seal has an adhesive backing, peel the liner a few inches at a time as you press the seal into place. If adhesive is required, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or mating surface per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Seat the seal starting from the center of one side and work toward the ends, pressing firmly and evenly so the retainer lip engages the channel and the bulb compresses against the tailgate.
- Close and open the tailgate several times to verify fit and sealing. Reposition any areas that are not seated properly. Allow any applied adhesive to cure fully before exposing to moisture (refer to adhesive cure time).
