A precision-engineered glass weatherstrip lockstrip designed to secure window glass inside the door channel and provide a tight, durable seal. The WLS 5351/52 C lockstrip reinforces the rubber weatherstrip, preventing glass separation, reducing wind noise and vibration, and protecting the window edge from wear. Built for long-term reliability and straightforward replacement, this lockstrip is ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance where an OEM-style hold and smooth window operation are required.
Features:
- Corrosion-resistant steel core for long-lasting strength and dimensional stability.
- Secures and aligns window glass within the weatherstrip channel to reduce rattles and wind noise.
- Protects the weatherstrip bead and glass edge from wear and damage during operation.
- Compatible with applications matching the WLS 5351/52 C profile; ideal for restoration and replacement jobs.
- Simple retrofit installation using common hand tools; restores OEM-style fit and finish.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45–90 minutes per door (typical)
Instructions:
- Lower the window to a position that provides access to the weatherstrip and lockstrip area.
- Remove the interior door panel and any water shield or trim that obstructs access to the weatherstrip channel.
- Carefully peel back or remove the old weatherstrip bead to expose the old lockstrip, using a trim tool and pliers as needed.
- If present, cut and remove the old lockstrip in sections with the utility knife and pliers; take care not to score or damage the glass.
- Clean the channel and surrounding area of debris, old adhesive, and corrosion; wipe with solvent and a clean rag and allow to dry.
- Measure and, if necessary, trim the new WLS 5351/52 C lockstrip to match the original length.
- Insert the new lockstrip into the lip of the weatherstrip bead: seat the metal edge fully into the rubber channel, ensuring it engages evenly along its length.
- Guide the weatherstrip (with installed lockstrip) back into the door window channel; use masking tape or a rubber mallet gently to help seat the bead without damaging the rubber.
- Cycle the window up and down slowly to confirm smooth operation and correct alignment; adjust seating if any binding or gaps are detected.
- Reinstall the water shield, trim, and interior door panel. Clean the area and perform a final functional and seal check for wind noise and leaks.
