Precision Glass Setting Tape - 3/32 thick GST 003 is an adhesive-backed setting tape engineered to provide consistent spacing, cushioning, and support when installing glass panels. Designed for automotive glass installation and restoration, the 3/32" thickness ensures accurate gap control for proper seating and load distribution, reduces vibration and wind noise, and helps prevent damage to glass edges and trim. The tape’s resilient core and pressure-sensitive adhesive deliver durable, long-lasting performance while being easy to trim and apply for professional, repeatable results.

  • Isopropyl alcohol or approved glass cleaner
  • Lint-free cloths
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Utility knife or scissors
  • Hand roller or firm block
  • Gloves
  • Masking tape (optional for temporary holds)
Instructions:
  1. Clean the glass flange and mating surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth; allow to dry.
  2. Measure the perimeter where the tape will be applied and cut tape strips to length using a utility knife or scissors.
  3. Test-fit the cut strips on the flange or glass edge to confirm placement before removing backing.
  4. Peel a short section of the backing, align the tape on the flange or glass, then slowly remove the backing while pressing the tape into place to avoid trapping air.
  5. Butt or slightly overlap strip ends as needed to create a continuous seating surface along the full perimeter.
  6. Seat the glass carefully into position, applying even pressure along the perimeter. Use a hand roller or firm block to compress the tape and ensure full adhesive contact.
  7. Secure the glass with any required clips, molding, or supports and check for even gaps and proper alignment.
  8. Allow the adhesive to set—avoid heavy loads or driving stresses for at least 24 hours where possible—then inspect seals and trim for final adjustments.
