The Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal Without Trim Groove WBL 685 is a direct-replacement windshield glazing seal designed to secure the windshield edge, prevent water and air intrusion, and reduce wind noise and vibration. Molded from a durable EPDM rubber compound resistant to UV, ozone and temperature extremes, the WBL 685 profile provides a consistent, long-lasting seal for applications that do not require an exterior trim groove. This weatherstrip restores original fit and finish, improves cabin comfort, and helps protect interior surfaces from moisture damage. It is suitable for restoration or replacement projects where the WBL 685 profile is specified.
Features:
- Durable EPDM rubber resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes.
- WBL 685 profile engineered for windshield applications without an exterior trim groove.
- Prevents water and air leaks while reducing wind noise and vibration.
- Flexible and trimmable for a precise fit; compatible with OEM-style windshield installations.
- Ideal for restoration and replacement to restore original fit, finish and sealing performance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes (single-person); longer if windshield removal is required
Instructions:
- If replacing an existing seal, carefully remove windshield trim and the old weatherstrip; follow vehicle-specific procedures for windshield removal if necessary.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield flange and surrounding channel of old adhesive, dirt and corrosion. Use isopropyl alcohol or a recommended cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
- Test-fit the WBL 685 seal along the flange to verify profile orientation and required length. Trim excess material with a utility knife or heavy-duty scissors as needed.
- If the application requires adhesive, apply the specified primer and adhesive/urethane to the flange according to adhesive manufacturer instructions. For push-in installations, adhesive may not be required — confirm vehicle-specific method.
- Starting at the top center of the windshield opening, seat the weatherstrip onto the flange and work outward toward the pillars, pressing firmly to engage the seal. Use a rubber mallet or hand pressure to fully seat corners and ensure even contact.
- Reinstall any exterior trim or molding if applicable. If windshield removal was performed, follow proper windshield bonding procedures and allow adhesive to cure for the recommended time before driving.
- Inspect the entire perimeter for uniform seating and test for leaks after curing. Re-torque any removed fasteners and clean the installed area.
