This outer header weatherstrip seal is an OEM-style replacement designed to restore the seal between the header panel and windshield cowl on 1978–1996 Ford Broncos. It prevents water intrusion, wind noise, and debris from entering the cowl area while protecting the header and surrounding sheetmetal from rust and damage. Made from durable, weather- and UV-resistant rubber, the seal provides a long-lasting, reliable fit that helps maintain original vehicle appearance and performance. Easy to install for most DIYers and recommended for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits 1978–1996 Ford Bronco outer header (direct replacement).
- Made from durable, weather- and UV-resistant rubber for long service life.
- Seals header-to-cowl joint to prevent water leaks, wind noise, and debris entry.
- OEM-style profile for proper fit and factory appearance.
- Easy installation for restoration or routine replacement — restores original protection.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, set the parking brake, and protect paint with fender covers.
- Carefully remove any trim, windshield wipers, or cowl components that obstruct access to the outer header seal using trim tools and appropriate sockets or screwdrivers.
- Pull out the old weatherstrip seal by hand or with a trim tool; cut and remove stuck sections with a utility knife as needed.
- Clean the mounting channel and flange surfaces thoroughly with solvent and a lint-free cloth to remove old adhesive, dirt, and rust. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip along the header to confirm orientation and length; trim excess if necessary for a snug fit.
- Apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the header flange or channel per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions (some seals may be designed to snap in without adhesive).
- Position the seal starting at one end, press it firmly into the channel or onto the flange, and work along the header making sure the profile seats evenly. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Reinstall any removed trim, wipers, or cowl pieces. Allow adhesive to cure fully (follow adhesive cure time) before driving. Inspect for proper fit and leak-free sealing.
