A direct-fit windshield weatherstrip engineered to seal and secure windshields that use steel trim. The channeled profile with a dedicated trim groove accepts steel finish trim while compressing to form a watertight, wind-noise barrier. Constructed from weather-resistant rubber compound, it restores proper glass alignment, prevents leaks and reduces vibration — ideal for restoration or replacement on GM steel-trim applications. Durable, reliable, and simple to install for a factory-like result.
Features:
- Fits GM vehicles using steel-trim windshields (WCR 587 D profile).
- Rubber compound resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes for long life.
- Integrated trim groove secures steel finish trim for a clean factory appearance.
- Seals against water, wind and road noise to protect the interior and glass edge.
- OEM-style profile for correct glass alignment and reduced vibration.
- Easy to trim and install for restoration or replacement projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–60 minutes
Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip and any remaining adhesive or debris from the windshield channel and pinch weld.
- Carefully inspect the steel trim and windshield flange for rust or damage; clean and treat as needed before installing the new seal.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip around the windshield to confirm orientation and trim length; mark any trimming points with masking tape.
- Trim excess material with a utility knife or scissors, making straight cuts and leaving enough overlap at joints for a tight seal.
- Clean the installation surface with rubbing alcohol to remove oils and dust; allow to dry completely.
- If specified for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in the channel following the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Press the seal into the windshield channel, ensuring the trim groove fully accepts the steel trim; use a plastic trim tool to seat the section evenly and avoid pinching the seal.
- Reinstall the steel trim into the groove, check for uniform compression around the glass, remove any excess adhesive, and allow adhesive to cure before driving.
