The Precision Door Jam Wire Loom BDP 007-2 is a durable door-jam wiring conduit designed to protect and organize electrical harnesses that run between the vehicle body and door. It prevents chafing, moisture intrusion, and pinch damage to wires, restoring OEM routing and helping avoid electrical shorts or intermittent faults. Constructed from abrasion-resistant, flexible material, this loom is built for long-term reliability and straightforward installation during repairs or restorations.
Features:
- Abrasion-resistant, flexible construction protects wires from chafing and abrasion.
- Shields wiring from moisture, dirt, and pinch points to reduce corrosion and shorts.
- OEM-style routing and grommet areas for secure fit and proper alignment through the hinge area.
- Retains flexibility in cold weather while resisting UV degradation for long service life.
- Easy to trim or adapt for replacement or restoration projects.
- Helps restore factory wiring protection and improves long-term electrical reliability.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Safety first: disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent shorts or airbag deployment.
- Open the door fully and remove any threshold, sill plates, or trim panels necessary to access the existing door-jam loom and its mounting clips.
- Support the door in the open position if needed to relieve stress on the hinge area.
- Carefully unclip and remove the old loom from the body and door, disconnecting any harness connectors or retaining clips as you go. Note connector locations for reassembly.
- Compare the new loom to the old one for length and grommet placement; trim the new loom if necessary to match routing.
- Route the new loom through the hinge area and seat any grommets in the door and body openings. Ensure the wiring harness is centered and free of sharp edges or pinch points.
- Secure the loom with the original clips or new retainers/zip ties, leaving a small amount of slack to allow the door to open and close without tension.
- Reconnect electrical connectors and reconnect the negative battery terminal. Test door functions (windows, locks, speakers, mirror adjustment, courtesy lights, and airbags if applicable) before reinstalling trim.
- Reinstall threshold, sill plates, and trim panels. Perform a final check to confirm proper routing and operation.
