Precision Windshield Molding USM D1659 is an OEM-style windshield trim designed to secure and seal the perimeter of the windshield, protect the pinch-weld from corrosion, and restore factory appearance. The molding helps maintain a watertight, wind-noise-free seal while holding the glass in proper alignment. It is engineered for long-lasting performance and dimensional accuracy — check vehicle fitment (USM D1659) to confirm compatibility with your make and model. Ideal for restoration, repair, or replacement projects where durability, reliability, and a correct fit matter.
Features:
- Check vehicle fitment for USM D1659; confirm compatibility with your specific year, make, and model before purchase.
- Durable, weather-resistant construction resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes to maintain shape and seal.
- Restores factory appearance and protects the pinch-weld from moisture and corrosion.
- Engineered to hold windshield alignment and reduce wind noise and water intrusion.
- Direct-fit profile for straightforward replacement — designed to match OEM contours and clip locations.
- Helps simplify windshield installation or re-sealing during restoration and maintenance jobs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect surrounding trim and paint with masking tape or covers.
- Carefully remove the old windshield molding or trim using a plastic trim tool and covered screwdriver to avoid damage to glass or paint; cut away any bonded sections with a utility knife.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield channel and pinch-weld area, removing old adhesive, dirt, and corrosion; use an appropriate cleaner and dry with shop towels.
- Dry-fit the new USM D1659 molding to verify orientation and fit. Note clip locations and any integrated seals.
- If vehicle manufacturer specifies primer or adhesive, apply primer to the channel and adhesive to the molding per product instructions; some installations are press-fit and require no adhesive.
- Starting at one corner, seat the molding into the channel and work around the windshield, pressing firmly and evenly. Use a trim tool and rubber mallet or block of wood to fully engage clips without deforming the molding.
- Reinstall any trim pieces or clips removed earlier and tape molding in place if adhesive was used. Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer recommendations before driving.
- Inspect the installed molding for gaps, proper sealing, and secure fit. Test for leaks with a light water spray after cure time has elapsed.
