The Precision Windshield Top Molding WFT D1448 restores the clean, finished look and weather sealing at the top edge of the windshield. Engineered to secure the windshield trim, reduce wind noise and block water intrusion, this top molding is built for durability and long-lasting fit. Its corrosion-resistant materials and weather-grade sealing surfaces make it ideal for restoration, collision repair, or routine replacement, while simple installation minimizes downtime and helps maintain factory appearance.
Features:
- Durable, corrosion-resistant metal and weather-grade rubber construction for long life.
- Secures and seals the top edge of the windshield to reduce wind noise and prevent leaks.
- Designed to restore factory appearance and fit for trim replacement or restoration projects.
- Easy to install with common trim tools; compatible with existing channel and clip systems.
- UV- and weather-resistant finish resists fading, cracking, and corrosion.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and protect painted surfaces around the windshield with masking tape.
- Carefully remove the old top molding: start at one end, use a plastic trim tool to pry up the molding and release the clips, and pull the molding away from the windshield channel.
- Remove any old adhesive, dirt, or debris from the molding channel using a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the channel is dry and free of rust or corrosion.
- Inspect and replace any damaged or missing trim clips. Lay out the new molding and verify clip locations align with the channel.
- Test-fit the new molding without adhesive to confirm alignment. Position the molding at the top windshield edge and engage the clips or press the molding into the channel evenly along its length.
- If required, apply weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per adhesive instructions before seating the molding for a more secure bond.
- Press firmly along the entire molding to fully seat clips and ensure a continuous seal. Use a rubber mallet gently if needed to engage stubborn clips.
- Clean excess adhesive, remove protective tape, and allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer recommendations before driving (typically 24 hours if adhesive used).
