Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 20-40 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the door and locate the upper door weatherstrip to be replaced.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: use a trim tool or flat-head screwdriver to pry out any retaining clips and peel the seal away from the channel.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal pieces in the channel to confirm orientation and fit (left/right). Trim any excess length if necessary for a precise fit.
- If adhesive is recommended for your application, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel or the seal's mounting flange per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Press the new weatherstrip firmly into the channel, working from one end to the other. Use masking tape to hold the seal in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Re-install any trim or retaining clips that were removed and ensure the seal seats evenly along the entire length with no gaps.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product instructions (if used), then close and open the door several times to confirm proper alignment and sealing. Check for leaks and adjust if necessary.
