Chrome Right Hand Outer Door Handle for 1980-1994 GM cars and trucks. This OEM-style replacement secures and actuates the exterior door latch, restoring proper door operation and original appearance. Designed for durability with a corrosion-resistant chrome finish, it provides reliable performance, smooth operation, and straightforward installation—ideal for restoration projects or everyday repairs.
Features:
- Fitment: 1980-1994 GM cars & trucks — right-hand outer door handle (passenger side on left-hand-drive vehicles).
- Chrome-plated construction resists corrosion and restores classic exterior appearance.
- OEM-style fit and function for secure, reliable door latching and smooth operation.
- Direct replacement for worn, damaged, or missing outer handles during restorations or repairs.
- Simple installation with common hand tools; durable design for long-term reliability.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Prepare vehicle: park on level ground, roll window up, and if vehicle has power locks, disconnect the battery to avoid electrical actuation.
- Remove the interior door panel: remove visible screws, pry off trim pieces, and gently release panel retaining clips with a trim tool. Lift panel away and disconnect any electrical connectors (speakers, switches) as needed.
- Peel back the moisture barrier carefully to access the inner door cavity and mounting hardware.
- Locate the outer handle mounting nuts/bolts inside the door. Support the exterior handle while removing the fasteners to prevent it from falling.
- Disconnect the door latch linkage and retainers from the old handle. Note the orientation of rods and clips for reinstallation.
- From the outside, remove the old handle and any gasket or spacer. Clean the mounting area and apply a light coat of silicone grease to moving linkages.
- Install the new chrome handle from the exterior, positioning any gasket or weather seal. Reinstall and tighten the interior mounting nuts/bolts to secure the handle.
- Reconnect the linkage rods and snap the retaining clips into place. Test the handle operation (open/close and lock/unlock) and adjust linkage position if necessary.
- Re-position the moisture barrier, reattach the door panel and trim pieces, reconnect any electrical connectors, and reconnect the battery if previously disconnected.
- Perform a final functional check of the door handle and lock operation to ensure smooth, secure performance.
