Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and block rear wheels.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands.
- Locate the idler arm on the passenger side frame rail connected to the center link/drag link.
- Apply penetrating oil to mounting bolts and nut threads; allow time to soak if rusted.
- Remove the nut securing the idler arm stud to the center link using the appropriate socket or wrench.
- Use a pitman/idler arm puller or ball joint separator to detach the idler arm stud from the center link.
- Unbolt the idler arm mounting bolts from the frame and remove the old idler arm.
- Position the new idler arm in place, align mounting holes, and install mounting bolts finger-tight.
- Attach the idler arm stud to the center link and hand-tighten the castle nut or retaining nut per vehicle specifications.
- Torque the idler arm mounting bolts and stud nut to factory torque values using a torque wrench.
- If applicable, install cotter pin or other locking hardware, and apply grease to fittings.
- Lower the vehicle, test-drive at low speed to confirm steering feel, and re-check torque on mounting hardware.
