Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the front and support the vehicle securely on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the suspension components.
- Apply penetrating oil to the ball joint nut and mounting fasteners; allow to soak if corroded.
- Remove the cotter pin (if equipped) and loosen the castle nut on the ball joint stud; do not remove fully yet.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or press; if using a hammer, be cautious to protect components.
- Remove any retaining bolts or snap rings securing the ball joint to the upper control arm.
- Use a ball joint press to remove the old ball joint from the control arm.
- Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage or excessive wear; replace the control arm if necessary.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated, ensuring correct orientation for right/left hand application.
- Install and torque retaining bolts/nut to manufacturer specifications and secure with a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reattach the steering knuckle to the ball joint stud and torque the castle nut to spec, inserting a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Have wheel alignment checked and corrected by a professional after installation to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
