Outer right-hand tie rod end (pitman arm to right-hand steering arm) designed for 1980–1997 Ford and Mazda trucks and SUVs. This direct-fit steering component secures the steering linkage, restores accurate toe alignment, and provides reliable connection between the pitman arm and steering arm. Built for durability and consistent performance, it reduces play and steering wander, resists wear under daily driving conditions, and simplifies steering system restoration on older Ford/Mazda vehicles.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct-fit outer right-hand tie rod end for 1980–1997 Ford and Mazda models (pitman arm to right-hand steering arm).
- High-strength forged construction for long-lasting durability and resistance to impact and fatigue.
- Precision ball stud and tapered fit for secure seating, reduced play, and improved steering response.
- Greaseable design (where applicable) or sealed construction to minimize maintenance and extend service life.
- Direct-replacement for worn or damaged steering linkage during restoration or maintenance projects, restoring correct toe and alignment.
- Easy-to-install design allows quick replacement with common hand tools, suitable for DIY or professional installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen lug nuts on the front wheel corresponding to the tie rod end to be replaced.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and support with jack stands; remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer right-hand tie rod end connecting the steering arm to the tie rod.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded tie rod with a paint pen or count turns to preserve alignment.
- Apply penetrating oil to castle nut and any rusted threads; remove the cotter pin if present.
- Loosen and remove the castle nut or fastener securing the tie rod end to the steering arm.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end ball stud from the steering arm; avoid hammering the steering arm pivot.
- Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod, counting turns or using your mark to match original length.
- Screw the new tie rod end onto the tie rod to the marked position or equivalent number of turns.
- Insert the new ball stud into the steering arm and tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer-specified torque; install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- If the part is greaseable, apply grease via the zerk fitting until fresh grease appears in the joint.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
- Perform a preliminary steering check and take the vehicle for a professional wheel alignment to verify toe and camber are within specifications.
