Adjusting sleeve designed to connect a right-hand pitman arm to a right-hand steering arm for select 1980–2007 Ford, Jeep, and Mazda vehicles. This sleeve facilitates correct alignment and secure steering linkage adjustment, restoring steering geometry and eliminating play between mating components. Built for durability and reliable clamping, it’s an ideal replacement during steering system rebuilds, restorations, or routine maintenance to maintain safe, precise steering response.
Features:
- Fits 1980–2007 Ford, Jeep, and Mazda models that use a right-hand pitman arm to right-hand steering arm connecting sleeve.
- Precision-machined sleeve ensures correct alignment between pitman and steering arms.
- Constructed from durable corrosion-resistant metal for long service life under road conditions.
- Allows fine adjustment of steering linkage to remove play and restore proper toe/steering geometry.
- Simple retrofit for restorations or replacement during steering system repairs.
- Threaded design provides secure clamping and repeatable adjustment without binding.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and lift front of vehicle using jack and secure with jack stands.
- Remove any steering linkage components or cotter pins blocking access to the pitman arm nut; note orientation for reassembly.
- Use a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm from the steering box if required; keep parts organized.
- Clean mating surfaces on the pitman arm and steering arm; inspect for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
- Apply a light coat of grease or anti-seize to threads and inside the sleeve; thread locker can be used per vehicle service recommendations.
- Slide the adjusting sleeve into position between the right-hand pitman arm and right-hand steering arm, aligning splines or keyways as applicable.
- Tighten the retaining nut(s) to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque using a torque wrench; reinstall cotter pins if present.
- Lower the vehicle, perform a basic steering check for play and smooth operation, and adjust sleeve as needed to remove slack while maintaining free steering movement.
- After road testing, recheck torque on fasteners and inspect for proper function; perform professional alignment if required.
