- Remove the wheel on the side needed for access if required for clearance.
- Locate the idler arm on the steering linkage and apply penetrating oil to fasteners; allow time to soak.
- Use a socket and wrench to remove the mounting nut(s) securing the idler arm to the frame bracket and the steering linkage stud nut.
- Use a pitman/idler arm puller or a pickle fork and hammer to separate the idler arm stud from the steering linkage. Be careful not to damage linkage components.
- Remove the old idler arm from the frame bracket and compare with the new unit to confirm fitment.
- Position the new idler arm in the bracket and loosely install mounting hardware. Reconnect the steering linkage stud and install nut.
- Torque all mounting and stud nuts to the manufacturer's specified values using a torque wrench.
- If the new idler arm has a grease fitting, apply grease with a grease gun until fresh grease appears at the seal. Wipe away excess.
