Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with jack, and support securely on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Locate the inner tie rod end on the steering rack and use a marker to note the length/position of the original tie rod to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the lock nut on the inner tie rod and disconnect the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork; remove the outer tie rod if needed to gain access.
- Remove the inner tie rod retaining fastener(s) and unthread the inner tie rod from the steering rack. Use appropriate tools to avoid damage to the rack.
- Compare the new part to the old one for correct fit and thread direction. Apply grease if the replacement is serviceable or per product instructions.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the marked position. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification.
- Reattach the outer tie rod end and tighten the lock nut. Torque all fasteners to spec.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
