This outer left-hand tie rod end is a direct-replacement steering component designed for 1995-1997 Ford vehicles that use this style of tie rod end (verify fitment for your specific model and axle). Its primary purpose is to connect the steering rack/center link to the steering knuckle, maintaining precise wheel alignment and safe steering response. Constructed from high-strength materials with a corrosion-resistant finish and a sealed ball joint, it restores steering precision, reduces play, and prevents premature wear of surrounding steering and suspension parts. The part is engineered for reliable, long-lasting performance and straightforward installation, making it ideal for both routine maintenance and restoration projects.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1995–1997 Ford vehicles that require an outer left-hand tie rod end — verify exact fitment for your model and trim.
  • High-strength steel construction for durability and long service life.
  • Sealed ball joint and protective boot to keep out contaminants and retain lubrication.
  • Restores steering precision and reduces play for improved vehicle handling.
  • Direct-replacement design for straightforward installation and alignment adjustment.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish helps extend component life in harsh conditions.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45–90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Wrenches (open-end or box)
  • Pliers
  • Grease (if applicable)
  • Hammer
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the outer left tie rod end where it connects to the steering knuckle and the inner tie rod/adjusting sleeve.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to the jam nut and tie rod end stud threads if they are corroded. Loosen the jam nut that secures the tie rod end to the inner tie rod or adjusting sleeve, but do not remove it yet.
  5. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unbolt the castle nut or retaining nut from the tie rod stud at the steering knuckle. Use a tie rod end puller or a hammer to separate the tie rod end from the knuckle.
  6. Count the number of turns required to unthread the tie rod end from the inner tie rod (or mark the position) to preserve approximate alignment, then fully unthread and remove the old tie rod end.
  7. Thread the new tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns (or to the same mark) to maintain alignment, then tighten the jam nut to secure position.
  8. Insert the new tie rod stud into the steering knuckle, install the retaining nut and torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground, and torque the wheel lug nuts to spec.
  10. Because exact toe alignment may have changed, have a professional wheel alignment performed to factory specifications after installation.
